A Recap of The Boulevard's 2025 Luncheon

June 26, 2025 23:56

The theme for The Boulevard's 2025 Fundraiser Luncheon was Driving Change, Inspiring Hope, which represented the importance of clear goals and strong leadership, particularly during times of major change. Inspired by The Boulevard's founders, this theme served as a reminder that meaning and motivation are necessary to influence positive change and are often realized during moments of selfless collaboration.

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, The Boulevard of Chicago raised over $200,000, including more than $50,000 from a live paddle raise, allowing us to surpass our fundraising goal. These vital funds will support our ongoing medical respite and housing services and programs for individuals experiencing homelessness.

We were proud to honor Northwestern Medicine with our Enhancing Lives Award for their leadership in advancing health equity, clinical excellence and community health through collaboration. Posh Charles, SVP of Administration, received the award on behalf of Northwestern Medicine.

The Enhancing Lives Award was established to recognize individuals and organizations who are making significant contributions to enhancing the lives of individuals living in underserved communities. This award has been created to acknowledge those who are making exceptional efforts to increase opportunities and eliminate disparities in the areas of health, education, employment and housing.

The Boulevard posthumously celebrated the legacy of one of our founders and first Board of Directors President, Reverend Dr. Paul Allen, with the Nancy Hanson Outstanding Service Award, accepted by his granddaughter, Chelsea Allen, who shared a heartwarming story about her grandfather.

The Nancy Hanson Outstanding Service Award recognizes those who demonstrate the highest caliber of volunteer service engagement, who have been a role model through selflessly giving time and talent, and who have become ambassadors for the organization’s vision. The award recipient, like Boulevard founder Nancy Hanson, places the highest of values on the rights of all human beings and is a champion for fairness and equality.

A panel of distinguished leaders—Christine Haley (Chief Homelessness Officer, State of Illinois), Nancy Hughes Moyer (VOA Illinois), and Emily Krisciunas (Chicago Funders Together to End Homelessness)—discussed the critical role of medical respite and permanent supportive housing as key components of our community’s safety net. The panel was moderated by The Boulevard's incoming Board president, Sharon Langshur.

In a powerful conclusion to the event, The Boulevard of Chicago was honored to receive an official proclamation from the State of Illinois declaring June 5, 2025 as Prevent and End Homelessness Day, recognizing The Boulevard’s impact and leadership.

Thank you to everyone that helped make this event a success!
